Vuelve la Diosa
Oh si, vuelve Liz Phair, si es que alguna vez se fue.
Cuando yo era joven o te buscabas la vida con lnrokuptibles y el Rock de Luxe o no te quedaba más remedio que pasarte al superpop y el El Gran Musical (Era Besteiro). Por eso buscabas el referente en lo que gente que sabía más que tu te marcaba. Como no se francés (aunque entiendo el suficiente como para saber cuando me insultaban las madres de mis amantes galas) por lo que confiaba, y seguiría confiando, del criterio de un amigo del alma.
Un día se me planta con un disco : "Exile in Guywille" de Liz Phair y saltaron por la ventana R.E.M. y los vestigios del rock americano que comenzaba a llamarse AOR.
Liz Phair proponía guitarra y crudeza. Apología del Nerd simple, reivindicación del romanticismo juvenil del "Low Popular", el llano, el que empezaba a tener relaciones personales más allá de la pantomima del fin de semana. Amor en días laborables. Unido a un físico normal pero muy morboso.
Canciones como "Fuck & Run", "Mesmerizing" o (la grandiosa, que nunca terminaba de empezar), "6 feet 1" me han acompañado siempre y mantenido una idea sobre LP que me ha ayudado a pasear sobre discos alimentarios como "Juvenalia" y "Whip-Smart".
Ahora saca nuevo trabajo: "Somebody's Miracle". Con un single sencillo pero rotundo, con un video excelente en cuanto a técnica pero pobre en narrativa sustentado en aquello que gusta mucho a los realizadores de videoclips extranjeros: probar una tecnología de video nueva para crear bobina de producto.
En este caso se trata de un software para simular que un objeto está en medio de un aguacero tremendo pero no se moja. Supongo que simplifica el trabajo de capas y capas y más capas que hasta ahora se nencesitan para hacer esto. Si hay por aquí algún editor de Flame o Inferno sabrá a que me refiero.
¡Ah! Si alguna vez se han preguntado como se consigue que la ación se desarrolle a cámara lenta pero las labiales y los golpes de instrumentos vayan sincronizados se lo cuento, es muy facil.
Se rueda el video con los artístas cantando una versión acelerada del tema. el primero que lo hizo, fue Spike Jonze en "Undone - The sweater Song" para Weezer y quedó de narices.
