Today it sounds... Harry Potter Globet of Fire soundtrack
I'm not fan of Harry Potter (neither of the movies and the books). In fact, I scorn it (is this expression correct?) in each opportunity that I have... but not in that post. Patrick Doyle, an unknown artist for the common audience, had the hard task to substitute John Williams.
In the Quidditch World Cup track we can recognize clearly two parts in the cue. The first one is more like a party or festivity. Every championship has the fun component and the first part describes it very well. Like every championship, when it starts the players usually forgets the "sport 4 fun" and starts the agressive competition. That is the point of the second part of the song. We can compare the two parts bringin face to face the strings vs the percussions and choirs.
It's not a surprise that Doyle composed a great work for this film, but it's surprising that he did it even better than Williams (ooohhh sacrilege!!). Seriously, the OST of Harry Potter Globet of Fire is an excellent soundtrack (at least the original soundtrack is good).
